计算机前沿技术在地球物理中的应用——下一代地震计算机将会是什么样子?

摘要
主要讨论计算机前沿技术在地球物理中的应用前景,涉及GPGPU,Larrabee,FPGA,Cell处理器的应用前景、下一代地震成像计算机、地震解释计算机、地震解释自动化和计算智能以及高度"沉浸"的虚拟现实环境。其中,GPGPU,Larrabee,FPGA,Cell处理器等技术在地球物理中的应用,主要取决于:①能够达到的实际持续速度;②编程的难易程度;③用户购买特殊硬件是否存在风险。目前,多核处理器在地球物理中的应用发展最为迅速。对于下一代地震成像技术(逆时偏移技术)而言,需要非常高性能的计算机。地震解释计算机主要通过网络连接高性能计算机,可支持高性能地震解释和解释自动化,计算机智能将得到进一步发展,虚拟现实技术也将进一步促进基于计算机网络的地震采集、处理和解释一体化。
The paper discussed several computer frontier technologies which are just applied to geophysics.The subjects included GPGPU graphics card co-processors,Intel Larrabee multi-core CPU servers,FPGA-based reconfigurable computing,cell processors,next generation seismic imaging computer,seismic interpretation computer,seismic interpretation automation,geophysical computational intelligence,and immersive virtual reality environment.The viable application of GPGPU,Larrabee,FPGA and cell processor technologies are dependent on their sustainable speedup,how easy to programming,and the potential risks for users to purchase the particular hardware.At present the multi-core CPU servers are most popularly used in geophysical computing.For the next generation seismic imaging algorithms (such as RTM),very high performance computers are required.Seismic interpretation computers are connected to high performance computers via networks,supporting high performance interpretation and interpretation automation.Virtual reality technology will further promote the integration of seismic acquisition,processing,and interpretation.
