摘要

20 0 1年 1月 2 6日印度古吉拉特邦发生 7.8级地震 ,造成生命和财产的严重损失 ,这是该地区历史上发生的第二次大地震 ,引起国际社会的普遍关注。本文综述了这次地震的情况 ,内容包括 :震源参数、发震背景、震灾情况、救援情况、地震造成的社会和经济影响以及值得思考的几个问题。
On January 26,2001 a devastating earthquake with magnitude 7 8 struck the Gujarat State,India,resulting in great losses of life and property.This was the second large earthquake occurring in the area in history,arousing common concern in the international society.Some information data about this earthquake are overviewed in this paper,mainly including:focal parameters, background of earthquake occurrence,earthquake disasters;disaster relief and assistance, social and economic effects as well as several problems which merit consideration.
