As an organizational form that promotes teachers' professional development and improves teachers' writing and learning ability in United States, the teacher writing group is in line with current outlook on teachers' development that emphasizes teachers' subjective status, sharing, and cooperation. As the carrier of the National Writing Project(NWP), the teacher writing group generally consists of three parts including members, materials and rules. Its operation includes five stages ranging from organizing a teacher writing group, discussing and guiding writing, writing, as well as sharing and feedback to writing reflection. The teacher writing group enjoys general characteristics that teachers' professional development community has. Its rise and development represent the shift of teachers' professional development pattern.
