Electrostatic interactions drive the adsorption of polycationic single-molecule magnets onto anionic monolayers self-assembled on goldsurfaces. Well-isolated magnetic clusters have been deposited andcharacterized using scanning tunneling microscopy and X-rayphotoemission spectroscopy.
