Gonadectomy negatively impacts PFC Zif268 expression, long-term memory, social interaction, and mood-related behaviors. mPFC AAV-Zif268 expression prevents GNX-induced reductions in Zif268, memory, and social interaction. Zif268 may serve as a non-hormonal treatment for cognitive declines associated with testosterone loss.
