Their high sensitivity to polarity change of environments should benefit for 1 and 2 as fluorescent sensors. The results revealed that the oxole ring in 1 and sugar ring played important role for the binding with BSA. The presence of the sugar moiety improved the dispersion of 1 in water, thus causing stronger fluorescence emission.
