Aldo-ketoreductases (AKR1B1 & AKR1B10) expression is elevated in different cancers. Enzyme activity and expression of AKR1B1 & AKR1B10 was increased in breast tumors. Increased expression of these enzymes in only the tumor tissue suggests that it can be used as an anti-cancer drug target.
