P2X7R was existed and up-regulated in HSCs activation induced by acetaldehyde. P2X7R could up-regulate the proliferation, inflammatory response including TNF-α, IL-6, IL-18 and IL-1β. P2X7R could mediate the synthesis of α-SMA, collagen I in HSCs induced by acetaldehyde through PKC-dependent GSK3β pathway.
