Preparations and photophysical properties of thermally activated delayed fluorescence materials based on N-phenyl-phenothiazine-S,S-dioxide

Four compounds containing a sulfone moiety in a rigid 6-membered ring are synthesized and three of them exhibit TADF characteristics. Short delayed fluorescent lifetimes are obtained ranging from 0.69 μs to 1.16 μs. The energy gaps between singlet and triplet excited states are tuned within 0.09–0.18 eV by addition of trifluoromethyl on N-phenyl. One blue TADF compound is acquired with an emission wavelength of 475 nm.
