Development of a unified oil droplet size distribution model with application to surface breaking waves and subsea blowout releases considering dispersant effects
A unified oil droplet size model was developed for breaking waves and blowout releases. Applicable both with and without dispersant treatment. Calibrated and validated with lab and Deepwater Horizon oil spill field data. Explicitly addressed the effects of the dispersed phase viscosity. Maximum stable droplet size was considered to constrain droplet length scale.
