Stride over the stratigraphic regions of Yangzi and the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the borderline of stratigraphic regionalism between Lishui and Yixing-Liyang areas is the deep fault in the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The distribution of Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata and Mesozoic volcanic complex are characteristic of control effect of the deep fault for strata, structure and volcanic magmatic activities in Yixing and Liyang areas. The analysis and study on Maoshan nappe tectonic zone showed that the sphenoidal thrust tectonic belt of Maoshan belonged to climbing nappe structure formed by twice mountain-building movements of nappe structure (Maoshan Movement) in the late Yanshanian Movement. Especially, taking Jiangnan deep fault as a background, Neocathaysian structural system was of far-reaching structural significance.
