Relative Reliability Distribution Analysis of EGM2008 Earth Gravitational Model over China and Its Adjacent Area by Using GOCE Satellite Gravity Field Model

EGM2008 earth gravitational field model with high resolution becomes an effective and convenient tool for engineering survey, geodesy, trajectory analysis, navigation, geophysical exploration and geological survey in the area with complicated terrain and natural conditions or where the terrestrial gravity data is rare even vacancy. Based on the latest earth gravity field model purely constructed by GOCE satellite, a new evaluation method is utilized to assess the relative reliability distribution of EGM2008 earth gravitational model over China and its adjacent area. The results show that in the eastern and southern of China, the reliability is higher than that in the western of China because of the irregularly and sparsely distributed terrestrial gravity data,and the accuracy is low mainly resulting from the error of elevation, but the middle and long wavelength components of the gravity model also contain the useful information about the subsurface geological structure. The relative reliability distribution map given in this paper, can provide the users of EGM2008 model with the basis and reference to in design and accuracy assessment and so on.
