摘要
Chromite deposits in China are generally medium-small sized podiform ones and unevenly distributed with poor exploratioin and utilization condition.The podiform chromote deposits are composed of both high Cr and High Al ores with different ore-forming mechanism.Backarc and forearc basin,island arc and middle ocean ridge rige and transform fault are possibly favorable settings for podiform chromite formation.More and More scholars consider that podiform chromite is formed in deep mantle.Chromite is a strategic mineral resource and is in shortage in China and almost entirely imported.Therefore prospecting of blind chromite deposits in the known chromite ore-forming belts should be strengthened.
