Soil Carbon Pool in Northeast Plain of China and Its Relations between the Soil Properties

     The content and the dynamic balance of soil organic carbon directly effect on the soil fertility and crop yield,the Northeast Plain is the largest plain in China,and is located in the Northeast China.With its wide flat terrain and fertile deep tracts became the famous national granary,studying on the soil carbon pool in Northeast Plain of China has great significance.Based on the accurate and high-density soil carbon data collected in the multi-purpose geochemical survey in Liaoning,Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces,the soil carbon pool components and soil properties influence factors on the soil carbon pool components were analyzed.The results showed that the distribution of the organic and inorganic carbon pool has typical characteristics.The soil organic carbon densitySOCDhas a trend of increasing from the west desertificated,saline-alkali plain to the east area of low mountains,and increasing from the south to the north in Northeast Plain of China.However,the soil inorganic carbon has an opposite trend of increasing from the east area of low mountains to the west desertificated,saline-alkali plain.The carbon pool in the Northeast Plain of China is still dominated by the total organic carbonTOCwith the variation of 56.14% -94.03% under different soil types.There is an obvious linear relationship between the soil organic carbon and the total nitrogen,the soil inorganic carbon densitySICDwas controlled significantly by the calcium oxide,the SICD and SOCD all have negative correlations with the silicon dioxide.These results showed that the soil composition and soil type are the strongest control factors to the soil carbon pool in the Northeast Plain of China.The soil texture,pH value and other soil properties also have great effect on the soil carbon pool.The scatter plot between the soil total inorganic carbonTICand pH value exhibit the saddle pattern,the scatter plot between the soil TOC and the pH value also exhibit the saddle pattern,but there is difference in shape.The effect of alkaline conditions on soil inorganic carbon content is more obvious.
