Sequence-Stratigraphy and Sedimentary System Analysis of the Nantun Formation in Wu’erxun Depression in Hailaer Basin

摘要

Using the basic principles of continental sequence-stratigraphy and integrating a comprehensive analysis of seismic, well log, and drill core data, we establish the sequence-stratigraphic framework of the Nantun Formation in the Hailar Basin. The Nantun Formation is divided into two third-order sequences and seven fourth-order sequences. Sedimentary facies and deposition systems have been identified in this sequence stratigraphic framework. There are four kinds of sedimentary systems, including fan deltas, braided river deltas, sublacustrine fans, and lake deposits. Fan deltas are mainly distributed in the steep slope of the western part of this basin. Braided river deltas can be found on the gentle slope of the eastern, southern, and northern parts of the basin. Sublacustrine fans are mainly distributed in the deep lacustrine in the center of canyons in the southern and northern parts of this basin. Lake deposits are mainly distribu- ted in the center of this basin and next to fan deltas and braided river deltas. From the margin to the center of this basin, fan deltas and braided river deltas transition into shallow and then deep lake deposits. The sedimentary characteristics and sedimentary facies in different periods are different from with each other. the overall evolutionary pattern represents a deepening-upward and then a shallowing-upward sequence. Both fan deltas and braided river deltas are characterized by retrogradation and then progradation. The de- tailed analysis of sedimentary facies provide a geological basis for oil and gas exploration in the Hailaer basin.
