The spatial distribution location of the stochastic blocks consisting of joints is uncertain because of the randomness and nonuniformity of joints developing in space.This makes the construction of slope supporting more difficult.This paper studies the stability of the spandrel groove internal slope of some large hydropower in the southwest area,determines the types and boundary conditions of the stochastic blocks in the slope by using stereographic projector and SASW software,while,draws the linear density contour map of the preferred planes composed of stochastic blocks by Suffer software and reasonably divides it into a high density area,medium density area and low density area.Based on the divisions,the paper determines the positions of the stochastic blocks,predicts the unstable regions of the blocks that may occur in the construction process and provides a forcast for appropriate support measures timely,for example,shotcrete-bolt support,concrete lining,and so on.
