In this paper, the authors summarized the major problems and development trends of the geological environmental capacity, and preliminarily constructed a theoretical evaluating framework by applying the index system of geological environmental capacity. Combined with the analyses of major geological environmental problems in Shanghai, main influence factors and proper evaluating indices were determined. For providing further reference on the future evaluation in Shanghai, typical case was discussed as a demonstration.
