Early Ordovician Graptolite Zonation of the Lower Member of the Meitan Formation, Wudang Area of Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China
摘要
The Central Guizhou Oldland was emergent during the Early to Middle Ordovician in an area which today comprises central Guizhou Province and eastern Yunnan Province. In this paper, the authors report on a study of the Graptolites from the faunistically diverse and richly fossiliferous Lower Member of the Meitan Formation from Wudang. So far we have found 31 species and 8 genera of incertae sedis. The Graptolite fauna has a relatively low diversity and most of the species are common in the Upper Yangtze Region. Based on their occurrences, four Graptolite zones were detected. In ascending order these are Acrograptus filiformis Zone, Didymograptellus eobifidus Zone, Corymbograptus deflexus Zone(?), and the Azygograptus suecicus Zone, all of which correspond well with those recognized previously from other regions of South China.
