SPS File Recovery and Seismic Data Reprocessing

The shot-receiving relation file of SPS file for one block in Nigeria is absent. Correctly recovering shot-receiving relation file is the basis of seismic data processing. Based on detailedly analyzing and selecting limited raw field data, the relation file is repeatedly simulated via the construction of theoretical geometry with seismic acquisition design software. With the help of data processing software, location of shot points and receiver points are verified and adjusted by linear NMO correction, similarity between adjacent shotpoint gathers and stacking section. By the workflow, the relation file was accurately recovered. In terms of the obtained shot-receiving relation file, the seismic data of the block was reprocessed. Compared with the previously processed sections; the reprocessed migrated sections have better quality. Accurate shot-receiving relation ensures the stack of same phase, increases the S/N of seismic data and improves imaging quality.
