Yongcheng is a mining city developed from the exploitation of coal resources. Its urban geological environment is not only influenced by topography and landform, geology, structure, hydrology engineering and geotechnical conditions, but also influenced by the layout of coal mine development and mining subsidence. This paper analyzes the urban geological environment characteristics of yongcheng city from the above aspects, and points out that the most important environmental geological problems are the land subsidence(accompanied by ground fissures) caused by coal development, the decrease of regional groundwater level caused by the drainage of groundwater, the pollution of groundwater and the soil water pollution caused by solid waste storage. This paper puts forward some suggestions on the urban planning of yongcheng from the perspective of geoscience, and divides yongcheng into 8 geoscience suggested areas.
