摘要
英语擅长理性的抽象思维,汉语倾向感性的形象思维。而语言和思维又是密不可分的整体,两种不同思维方式的差异表现在语言结构上呈现为英语多用重形合的严谨性语言,汉语多用重意合的分析性语言。文章选用张谷若翻译的《德伯家的苔丝》来分析英汉两种语言在抽象和具体上的直观差异,从而加深对此翻译手法的理解。
English is featured by rational abstract thought, while Chinese perceptual imaginal thought. At the same time, language and thought are an inseparable whole. The difference between the two modes of thought is manifested in the linguistic structure, because English shows the characteristics of hypotaxis and Chinese values parataxis. This paper chooses Tess of the D'Urbervilles translated by Mr. Zhang Guruo to analyze the differences between English and Chinese in abstract and concrete, so as to deepen the understanding of this translation technique.
