摘要
<p id="p-1">Robert "Bob" Brady died in his home in Bedford, Texas, after a long illness. He was born October 23, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up on Long Island. He received his bachelor's degree from Union College, Schenectady, New York, and a master's degree from the University of Wyoming. He attended Columbia University while teaching at Queens College New York. Bob began his career in the oil business in 1951 with Gulf Oil in the Rocky Mountain area. While working in Montana, Bob met and married Shirley Ross in 1952. In 1956 Bob joined American Overseas Petroleum Company. Bob, Shirley, daughter Linda, and newly born son Bryce immediately moved to Benghazi, Libya, where they joined a very small group of American expatriates from several oil companies. Entertainment was with each other and it was a joy to be with Bob. His sense of humor and good nature were welcome additions to the American community in Benghazi. Dinner at Bob's house was a mixture of good food, challenging games, and stimulating conversation. From Benghazi Bob moved to Tripoli, Libya, and then to Paris, France. He eventually moved to the company's offices in New York City, where his interests were with exploration activities in Indonesia. He relocated with Caltex/American Overseas Petroleum to Las Colinas, Texas in 1982. Bob retired in 1984. Bob loved to travel and was an avid photographer. On his vacations, and during his overseas assignments, he traveled with his family all over the world. When he was on vacation, post cards would arrive from places visited only by National Geographic, and Bob would have the photographs to verify his trip. As well as being a member of AAPG since 1953, Bob was a Certified Petroleum Geologist with the AAPG Division of Professional Affairs, Fellow of the Geological Society of America, and past president of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Libya and also the Petroleum Exploration Society of New York. Bob was an Eagle Scout and served on the AAPG Boy Scout Committee. Bob was an active church member. He was a deacon at the American Church in Paris; chairman of the church council at the Union Church in Tripoli, Libya; an elder at Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, Connecticut; and served as an elder and Clerk of Session at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Bedford for several years. In 1989 he was a delegate to the Presbyterian General Assembly. Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Brady; son, Bryce P. Brady; and daughter, Linda B. Lumb, all of Bedford; grandchildren, Sarah Lumb, Kyle Brady, and Shannon Brady; daughter in-law, Janet Brady; and son in-law, Gary Lumb. Bob will be missed by all who knew him. p>
