2) have been successfully synthesized by routine synthetic reactions in aqueoussolution. Single-crystal X-ray analysis was carried out on the two compounds (

2), which both crystallize in the triclinicsystem. For

1 represents the first example of the double-cubane Ni
7O
8-cluster-substituted polyoxometalates, and the [
-SiW
8O
31] unit in
1 was scarcely reported previously. Compound
2 exhibits a novel asymmetricdimeric structure, consisting of [
-Ni
3SiW
9O
37(H
2O)
3] and [
-SiW
8Ni
2O
34(H
2O)
2] units linked by three
3-OH groups. In the [
-Ni
3SiW
9O
37(H
2O)
3] half unit, this fashion of the tri-Ni-substituted was scarcely reported, and in the [
-SiW
8Ni
2O
34(H
2O)
2] units, themode of the di-Ni-substituted is also observed scarcely in the polyoxometalates chemistry.
