We report the synthesis and characterization of trans-Pt(p-CN-C₆H₄-C₂H₅)₂(CN)₂ and compare theproperties to the previously reported cis isomer, cis-Pt(p-CN-C₆H₄-C₂H₅)₂(CN)₂. These geometric isomersexhibit textbook differences in spectroscopic and vapochromic properties, especially in the solid-state.
