Zinc bismuth-silicate glasses with varying ZnO were prepared by melt-quenching. Glasses were found to exhibit amorphous behavior. Characteristic temperatures were found to increase with heating rate. SiO symmetric stretching vibrations of in SiO4 tetrahedral units were present. Phonon assisted indirect electronic transitions were present.
