A new method to analyze the thermal stress field on piston by FEA. The simulation result is validated with the experiment result. Transient temperature fluctuation is considered in this study. Mechanical stress boundary condition is in line with the actual work situation. The value of thermal stress is about 50% of the thermal-mechanical coupling stress.
