A self-curing, thermosetting resin was synthesized by EP and SG. The EP-SG resin can be stored at room temperature for one year without gelation. The EP-SG resin could be cured by heating without any curing agents. Chelate bonds break at high temperatures and react with active groups in EP-SG resin. The EP-SG resin has been used as matrix of a anticorrosive paint for heat-exchangers.
