Supported Cr–Cu catalysts were prepared by arc plasma deposition. The catalytic activity of Cr–Cu/CeO2 for NO–CO reaction was enhanced by thermal ageing. Cu+ and Cr3+ embedded CeO2 surface structure is formed by thermal ageing. NO is dissociatively adsorbed and the resultant O atom reacts with CO forming CO2.
