A real spherical harmonics MUSIC method is proposed to estimate DOAs of incident signals for spherical arrays.

Two unitary transformations are developed to transform the complex search vector to a real vector.

The block FB averaged covariance matrix can be transformed into a real matrix by using the unitary transformations.

The computation cost can be further decreased by exploiting the phase shift characteristic of the real search vector.
