We refine the palynostratigraphy of Permian rocks in the mid-Zambezi Basin of Zambia.
Palynofloras can be correlated with those of South Africa, Australia and Antarctica.
The richly carbonaceous Gwembe Formation is assigned a Wordian–Capitanian age.
The overlying Madumabisa Formation can be dated as Wuchiapingian–Changhsingian.
Palynological assemblages constrain the age of the Madumabisa Mudstone vertebrates.
