PV cells are fabricated with electrodeposited Cu2O and atomic layer deposited ZnMgO. Solar cell architecture does not contain precious metals. The Cu2O absorber on the Cr/ITO electrode has large grains and is void-free. The energy band levels of ZnMgO are extracted as a function of the Mg concentration. The cell efficiency increases for moderate Mg doping compared to pure ZnO.
