Evidence-based pharmacotherapies exist for the management of alcohol dependence. A higher rate of alcohol-attributable morbidity and mortality exists in remote and socioeconomically disadvantaged areas. Geographical and socioeconomic disparities exist regarding the dispense rate. Targeted strategies aimed at closing the gap of accessibility are required.
