Phosphonium salts are synthetically useful intracellular transport vectors. The cytotoxicity of ω-thioacetylpropylphosphonium salts is reported. Cellular uptake of the phosphonium salts has been determined using MALDI-TOF-MS. Crystal structures of tri(4-fluorophenyl)phosphonium compounds are described.
