Influence of membrane support layer parameters on performance not fully understood. Effects of support layer metrics on transport studied using a 2D numerical model. Reducing thickness significantly improves net driving force recovered. Doubling porosity exhibited smaller improvements. Effect of pore size, not included in the structural parameter, was non-negligible. Individual metrics in the structural parameter impact performance to varying degrees.
