Sec8 regulates N-cadherin expression but not that of E-cadherin. Sec8 knockdown delays TGF-β1 induced EMT. Sec8 regulates N-cadherin expression by controlling Smad3 and Smad4 expression. Sec8 regulates the transcriptional level of Smad3 and Smad4 by mediating CBP expression.
