Pretreatment with C. subvermispora increased glucose yields from sugarcane bagasse. Selective degradation of lignin was necessary for enhanced glucose mass balances. Forty-seven percent of potential glucose was recovered after C. subvermispora biotreatment. The biotreatment efficiency was comparable to leading physico-chemical pretreatments.
