To improve the microwave dielectric properties of Ni0.5Ti0.5NbO4 ceramics, the Zn element was selected as the substitute for Ni site. The Ni0.5鈭?em>xZnxTi0.5NbO4 (x=0.10, 0.15, 0.20, 0.25) ceramics were synthesized by the conventional solid-state reaction method. When x was equal to 0.10, a single phase was obtained (Ni0.5Ti0.5NbO4). Considering the similar parameter between the Zn and the Ni element, the single phase should be (Ni, Zn)0.5Ti0.5NbO4 solid solution. But then with the increase of Zn content, the second phase (ZnTiNb2O8) appeared. The excellent microwave dielectric properties were obtained for Ni0.5鈭?em>xZnxTi0.5NbO4 ceramics (x=0.20) sintered at 1125 掳C for 4 h: 蔚r=62.54, Q脳f=13,500 GHz, 蟿f=+65 ppm/掳C. Under the premise of not deteriorating the Q脳f value, the dielectric constant was enhanced for Ni0.5Ti0.5NbO4 ceramics by proper Zn doping for Ni site, which was relevant to the existence of (Ni, Zn)0.5Ti0.5NbO4 solid solution.
