Electrospun CuO nanofibers with 35 nm sized interconnected particles were prepared. CuO electrodes exhibited excellent cycling stability for 1000 cycles at 5C rate. Ex-situ XPS analysis of cycled CuO composite electrode reported for the first time. XPS upon in-situ sputtering of electrodes confirmed stable composition of SEI layer.
