3D Geological modeling with multi-source data integration in polymetallic region: a case study of Luanchuan, Henan Province, China.

The development of 3D geological models involves the integration of large amounts of geological data, as well as additional accessible proprietary lithological, structural, geochemical, geophysical, and borehole data. Luanchuan, the case study area, southwestern Henan Province, is an important molybdenum-tungsten-lead-zinc polymetallic belt in China. Skarn lead-zinc deposit is found firstly around the porphyry molybdenum deposit, and the lead-zinc ore appears in the layered skarn rocks. It is layered with big thickness and wide distribution, and controlled by the Mid Late Proterozoic marble strata. The Luanchuan polymetallic region, more than 200km (super 2) , has relationship with the small granite intrusives in Yanshan period. On the basis of the ore-controlling geological conditions and an analysis of diversity of metallogenic model, 3D geological modeling is constructed with multi-source data integration in Luanchuan poly-metallic camp. The multi-source data for representing geology are diverse including boreholes, cross-sections, geological maps, structural geology maps, geophysical (controlled source audio-frequency magnetotelluric sounding, CSAMT) sections, fieldwork geological data, and Digital elevation model (DEM). In particular, we show how the interpretation of 3D data sets can constrain exploration targets at depth. The homogeneity of data treatment and the validation of geological interpretations, taking into account geophysical and geochemical data are required. In this paper, 3D geological modeling, additional virtual geological section technology is used to explore concealed ore body and generate new mineral exploration targets. The virtual geological section not only has same function as reality section to define the scope of geological body function, but also has the deep geophysical exploration transmission capabilities, to predict whether the ore-forming geological bodies buried, what kind of mineral types due to the multi-source data check and validation in 3D geological body models. Luanchuan, the case study area, is polymetallic and multi-deposit genisis region, a wide range of geological deposits in the establishhment of three-dimensional modeling for other solid metal or mineral ore research for reference.
