A capillary zone electrophoresis（CZE）method has been established for a nalysis of the monosaccharide compositions of polysaccharides from Chinese herbRhizoma Phragmitis and Pollen Typhae.These monosaccharides derived with α-naphthylamine were detected by a diode array detector at 214nm.The five mono-saccharides rhamnose（Rha），xylose（Xyl），galactose（Gal），glucose（Glu），andarabinose（Ara）were simultaneously separated under the optimized CE conditionsof 50 mmol/L of sodium tetraborate buffer at pH 10.5 and 25 kV running voltage at25℃.The calibration plots were linear over a range from 5 to 200mg/L.The detec-tion limit（S/N=3）was 2.5mg/L for each monosaccharide.The relative standarddeviations of migration times and peak areas were<1.46% and 6.21%，respective-ly.The result showed that Rhizoma Phragmitis polysaccharides consist of Xyl，Glu，Ara，and Gal with molar ratio of 1.00：59.03：2.09：1.96；Pollen Typhaepolysaccharides consist of Rha，Xyl，Glu，Ara，and Gal with molar ratio of 1.71：1.00：9.30：6.88：1.24.
