///On August 16, 2003, an M_S5.9 earthquake occurred in the bordering area of Balinzuoqi and Alukeerqinqi, Inner Mongolia. The authors analyze the seismic activity and the distribution of earthquake disaster on the basis of the seismological settings in the earthquake area. By analyzing the variation of b-value, velocity ratio (V_P/V_S) and correlation length before the earthquake event, the authors discuss the evolvement of underground media in the hypocentral area before earthquake event and preliminarily deduce the seismogenic process of the earthquake.
