Basin modeling has long been employed as an important technique in the exploration and assessment of petroleum basins. The BasinMod2009 software developed by PRA Corporation in 2009 is introduced in the present paper to the modeling of burial history by means of backstripping compaction method, thermal history. It can be seen that the newly-developed software has many advantages of planar, sectional and three-dimensional modeling of various basins.
