///Based on former research data, the authors observe and measure the Yangtze terraces again, and research the relative Quaternary sediments in the Yichang area which lies at the end of Three Gorges. From this research, it is found that the 7th terrace noticed by some researchers can not be correlated from oft-com:office:smarttags" />Chongqing to Yichang, at the same time, it nearly can not be found in the field. The 6th terrace noticed by some researchers has been found to have a reverse paleo-current direction contrasting to the current Yangtze in Chongqing, and it is not a terrace but are sediments of the alluvial fan or fan-delta formed at bottom of Shanxiyao Group and the lake sediments deposited in the upper part of Shanxiyao Group. So, there are only five steps of Yangtze terraces which can be correlated from Chongqing to Yichang.
