A large shallow-water delta was found in the rifting lacustrine basins based on the study of depositional systems, sedimentary characters and sedimentary model of Upper of the 3rd and the 2nd Member of Shahejie Formation, Paleogene in the Niuzhuang subsag, Dongying sag. Different from the shallow-water deltas formed in rifting lacustrine basins, it has its own major depositional microfacies type, plane features, and distribution pattern, which all display distinct phase changes closely related to the evolution of lacustrine basin system. In the low stand systems tract and regressive systems tract, the subaqeous distributary channel is the most common microfacies and the delta’s figure is similar to that of meandering river: submarine crevasse splay and thick sandbody with poor horizontal continuity.
