Summary One new family (Pupiaoidae) and two new genera(Pupiaoia and Baoshanella)of brachiopods are established from the Shihtien Formation (upper Darriwilian, Middle Ordovician) of Shidian and Baoshan counties of western Yunnan. The $hihtien Formation contains many other brachiopods and some graptolites, trilobites etc. Pupiaoia gen. nov. is assigned to Orthoidea. It is substantially different from other genera among this superfamily in shell outline, ornamentation and cardinalia, therefore a new family Pupiaoidae is established based on this new genus. Baoshanella is attributed to Potranellidae of Dalmanelloidea.
