Two core samples taken from the lower part of the first member of the Bianqiao Formation at a well sec tion, north Tongjiazhuang village, Bianqiao of the Pingyi County, Shandong Province have been studied. Rich sporo pollen fossils have been found for the first time in the area. 41 genera, 2 sub-genera, 37 species, 24 undetermined taxa have been recognized. Part of them are new to the Shandong area. They can be referred to the Schizaeoisporites Rugubivesiculites-Ulrnipollenites/Ulmoideipites sporo-pollen assemblage. According to the geological range of some important elements and the correlation with relevant assemblages of other areas, the assemblage is assigned to the late Late Cretaceous Maastrichtian.
