Preliminary Application of Soil Radon Measurement in Guangzhou-Conghua Fracture Detection

Five profiles along Guangzhou-Conghua fracture were employed in this paper. CDI-2000 and FD-3017RaA were used to detect soil radon concentration rapidly. Then soil radon concentration curves and contour maps were plotted. The characteristics of soil radon anomaly curve were analyzed. The paper has several conclusions: obvious abnormal peaks are observed, and location of fractures or concealed fractures and width of fractures could be well delineated according to location of abnormal peak. Inclination could be deduced by using the geometric shape of the peak anomaly. There is a clear correspondence between concentration ratio of radon and fault activity. The trend of the fracture could be well revealed on the basis of contour maps and measured line connected by peak values.
