 By using the reconnaissance of salinized soil road section of Ruomuhong-Ge’ermu highway in Qinghai Province as an example, the paper states the issues that should be taken attention to during salinized soil road reconnaissance, analyzes the genesis of salinized soil on highland, proposes important physical and mechanical indicators of salinized soil and the way of treating salinized soil roadbed. New concepts and methods for reconnaissance and design of highway in West China are provided with some examples of highland salinized soil reconnaissance.
