Based on Quickbird/Worldview-2 high-resolution satellite images and multi-spectral remote sensing Aster images, this paper investigates the sedimentary-metamorphic type iron deposits in the Taxkorgan area, Xinjiang. Taking the Laobing-Zankan iron mine district as an example, the authors studied its high-resolution satellite images and remote sensing anomalies and built a prospecting model for searching for sedimentary-metamorphic type iron deposits in this region. And the authors utilized this model to delineate the mineralized alteration zones in the Tasala area. The result shows that the Tasala area south of the Bulunkuole rock group shows a good prospect of searching for sedimentary-metamorphic type iron deposits.
