Through the analysis on overexcavation in highway tunnel blasting, it proposes many reasons which caused the overexcavation. Under the good results and experiences conclusion of some engineering examples, the paper gives relative measures to solve the problem, such as increasing the accuracy of survey line and drilling, paying attention to drilling and blasting design, improving management and organization of on-site construction.
